A collection of Indonesian edged weapons, 19th and 20th century A kris with a flamed turf ore blade and lightly chiselled base, mendhak of smooth brass and nickel silver. Finely carved ebony grip. Length 45 cm. A bathing-bath with concave curved back blade and openwork carved horn grip. Wooden scabbard with finely carved horn mouth en suite and a plain socket of the same material. Length 36 cm. Also a ritual with a blade made from a heavy spear blade, handle and scabbard covered with chased sheet brass and with full floral decoration. Length 40 cm. Condition: III +

Teils mit beschnittenem Wasserzeichen J. Whatman 1794. - Prachtvolle und farbleuchtende Sammlung feinzeichnerischer Pflanzen-Darstellungen. Als Vorlage diente das zwischen 1786 und 1792 in Wien und Leipzig erschienene Werk "Plantarum indigenarum et exoticarum icones ad vivum coloratae, oder, Sammlung nach der Natur gemalter Abbildungen inn- und ausländlischer Pflanzen". Wie auch in der zweimonatig erschienenen Pflanzenzeitschrift sind die vorliegenden Blätter mit handschriftlichen Titeln in deutscher und lateinischer Sprache versehen. Enthält neben Darstellungen einheimischer und exotischer Pflanzen auch einige Zeichnungen von Pilzen. - Papierbedingt etwas gebräunt und sehr vereinzelt unscheinbar fleckig. Insgesamt sehr gut erhaltene und vielfältige Sammlung. Botany - Collection of 105 original watercolours with depictions of plants. Germany, early 19th century. Pen and watercolour on wove paper. - Partly with trimmed watermark J. Whatman 1794. - Superb and brightly coloured collection of finely drawn depictions of plants. The work "Plantarum indigenarum et exoticarum icones ad vivum coloratae, oder, Sammlung nach der Natur gemalter Abbildungen inn- und ausländlischer Pflanzen", published in Vienna and Leipzig between 1786 and 1792, served as a model. As in the bimonthly plant journal, the present drawings have handwritten titles in German and Latin. Contains illustrations of native and exotic plants as well as some drawings of fungi. - Paper somewhat browned and very occasionally inconspicuously stained. Overall a very well-preserved and varied collection.

Zoologie - Ornithologie Sammlung von 39 Original-Zeichnungen mit Darstellungen von Vögeln. Vermutlich England, Mitte des 19. Jahrhunderts. Feder und Aquarelle auf chamoisfarbenem Papier. Blattmaße je ca. 15 x 19 cm. Meist mit Beschriftungen in englischer und lateinischer Sprache. - Die Blätter scheinen einem professionellen ornithologischen Zeichenalbum zu entstammen. Enthalten sind sowohl europäische als auch außereuropäische Arten, es überwiegen dabei Enten- und Hühnervögel. Dargestellt sind unter anderem ein Kernbeißer, ein Halsbandfrankolin, Löffelenten, Persische Sandhühner und Büschelenten. Die Vögel werden meist in ihrer natürlichen Umgebung gezeigt, einige Blätter bilden zudem auch das Gelege ab. Einige der Zeichnungen scheinen inspiriert von dem erstmals zwischen 1851-1857 erschienen Werk "A History of British Birds" von Rev. F.O. Morris. - Verso vereinzelt mit Spuren früherer Montierung. Einige auf Trägerpapier montiert. In den Rändern teils unscheinbar gebräunt und vereinzelt gering braunfleckig. Insgesamt sehr gut erhaltene und vielfältige Sammlung. Ornithology - Collection of 39 original drawings with depictions of birds. Probably England, mid 19th century. Pen and watercolour on chamois-coloured paper. - Mostly with captions in English and Latin. - The sheets appear to come from a professional ornithological drawing album. They contain both European and non-European species, with a predominance of duck and partridge birds. Among others, a hawfinch, a collared francolin, spoonbills, Persian sandgrouse and tufted ducks are depicted. The birds are mostly shown in their natural environment, with some sheets also depicting the clutch of eggs. Some of the drawings appear to have been inspired by the work "A History of British Birds" by Rev. F.O. Morris, first published between 1851-1857. Morris. - Partly with traces of earlier mounting on verso. Some mounted on backing paper. Some inconspicuous browning in margins and occasional minor brownstaining. Overall a very well-preserved and varied collection.
