A Japanese miniature hoshi kabuto in the style of the Kamakura period, 21st century Iron bell with large indicated hoshi (rivets), three-step tehen kanemono, vs. mabezaeshi and maedate, triple-slipped shikoro with orange binding, matching agemaki and helmet strap. Comes with a mempo with yodare kake. Height 43 cm. Comes with a Kara Bitsu with slip lid, six feet and sheet brass reinforcements. This miniature kabuto was modeled after the helmet of Kusunoki Masashige (1294 - 1336). He was a Japanese samurai who fought for Emperor Go-Daigo in the Genkō War. During the Meiji and Taisho periods in the 19th and early 20th centuries, he was stylized as a national hero who sacrificed himself for the emperor in a hopeless situation.
