A Caucasian shashka with Hungarian blade, 18th century Curved blade with double fullers on both sides, on the obverse side an etched depiction of a hussar and the motto "Pro Deo Et Patria", below a double cross and another illegible motto, on the reverse side a Madonna, another illegible motto and the Hungarian coat of arms. Typically shaped grip with riveted horn grip scales. Simple, repeatedly repaired, leather-covered wooden scabbard. Blade stained and with traces of corrosion. Length 91 cm. Condition: III -
