A silver-mounted and nielloed Balkan Turkish yatagan, circa 1800 Long, smooth single-edged blade with ornamentally embossed silver mounting. The entire surface of the grip is wrapped in corded silver wire with decorative rivets on each side. The broad, protruding pommel is silver-plated on top and finely nielloed with ornamentation. Leather-covered and wire-stitched wooden scabbard, the two long silver mountings embossed in relief with floral decoration and depictions of mosques. Unusual yatagan type. Length 87 cm.
