Jeweils gesiegelt und eigenhändig signiert vom Lehrmeister Andreas Wunder, vom Forstmeister und Forstexaminator Anton Zyka, von Anton Heinz (Revierjäger in Sattalitz) und dem Fasanenjäger Joseph Wimmer. Mit zwei Gebührenstempeln. Vinarice (deutsch Winarz/Weingarten) ist heute ein Ortsteil der Stadt Jirkov (Görkau) in Tschechien. - Vereinzelt mit unscheinbaren Anschmutzungen. Relation fidelle de tout ce qui s'est passé dans le voyage de Monseigneur le Duc d'Anjou, Roy d'Espagne et de Messeigneurs les Ducs de Bourgogne et de Berry depuis Versailles iusqu'à Iron [= Irun]. [MANUSCRIT] Sl, December 4, 1700 (1701). In-12, 108 pp. in fine, highly legible handwriting (approx. 30 lines per page, a few cross-outs and erasures), with engraved frontispiece with blank cartouche (Paris, chez Bonnart), bearing a handwritten title "Journal du sr. Frigard, ordinaire de la musique du Roy", brown calf, ornate ribbed spine, red speckled edges (period binding). A very important and interesting first-hand account of the journey made by the young Philip V to his Spanish states after his grandfather Louis XIV accepted Charles II's will. The account of a man who was educated, but not part of the world of the "greats". According to the indications in the title block, the author is Pierre Frigard, a native of Louviers and the King's ordinary musician. Indeed, his name appears in the Mercure galant's list of the principal musicians who made the trip to the Spanish border. The date given at the beginning (December 4, 1700) corresponds to that set by Louis XIV for the departure of the suite, but the full text must date from at least 1701, if not later. The extended tour had been planned by Louis XIV as a sort of "tour de France" for his two grandsons. The text is packed with details on each of the stops, where the main preoccupations, once the masses had been sung, revolved around the table and the "nymphs". Piquant anecdotes and bon mots continue throughout.
