An ornate northern German copper foot warmer, Hanover/Brunswick, circa 1720 Eight-sided body of pierced copper in relief with a hinged side door for inserting a brazier. Arched lid, richly pierced and in relief, with movable carrying handle. Decorated all around with putti, horses, lions and mythical creatures in rich relief. He ran his father's publishing house from 1869 until his death. - Included: Handwritten postcard with signature "Fr. Baedeker in Fa Karl Baedeker" to Mr. A. v. Seefeld in Hanover.
