Description

A Bavarian and a Swiss pewter ring jug, 18th century Two heavy pewter jugs with sturdy support rings (one slightly bent). The finely florally chased jug on a hexagonal base from Chur, Switzerland, with a master's mark by Johann Ulrich Bauer (1750). The partially scratched wall of the second example bears a stepped cartouche, the lid marked by Georg Paul Schmidt, who is known to have worked as a pewterer in Kempten from 1744. Height 34 and 38 cm. Condition: II
