A pewter-mounted faience jug, Ansbach, circa 1790 Faience, pewter-mounted. Stand with broadly flared, wavy pewter mount. Cylindrical, manganese-asphalted wall. Front with cartouche with fish framed by foliage and shells in colorful hot-fire colors. Pewter lid with relief medallion depicting the birth of Christ. Engraved with "MBE 1801". Without pewter marks. In very good condition. Dimensions 26 x 17.5 x 13 cm. Cf. Bayer, Ansbacher Fayencen, ill. 196 (cartouche). Condition: II +

Important hunting knife. Ebony handle inlaid with leafy urns (chips), enriched with silver baguettes, engraved on the edges. Embossed silver guard with rocaille decoration and double silver chain. Strong, flat-backed, straight blade engraved "Peton Md fourbisseur à la tête noire rue des Carmes au coin de celle d'aumône à Rouen", counter-edged, hollow sides engraved with Cassaignard motifs. Sallieth f. a. Rotterdam 1790". At the lower part inscribed in the printing plate: "Jacob Pieter Van Braam / aptein ter Zee en thans Schout by Nacht / Van Holland en West Friesland".
