Ferdinand Barbedienne (1810 - 1892) - a fire-gilt bronze "Diana of Versailles", Paris, 19th century Fire-gilt bronze version of the graceful huntress Diana of Versailles. Stamped on the back of the plinth "F. Barbedienne, Fondeur, Paris". On a narrow red-green marble base (slightly chipped). Height 22.5 cm. Ferdinand Barbedienne (1810 - 1892) was a French art founder and one of the greatest art publishers of his time. His productive, internationally renowned business (casting art and decorative objects in bronze) had most of France's sculptors under contract, including, for example, Antoine-Louis Barye and Auguste Rodin.
