In wide passepartout and thick, stuccoed gilded wooden strip frame (corners bumped), behind glass. Overall dimensions 43.5 x 38 cm. Anton Strassgschwandtner (1826 - 1881) was a prolific and respected Austrian horse, hunting and military genre painter as well as a lithographer (highly esteemed as such) and collector of weapons. As a member of the Vienna Artists' Cooperative, his numerous clients included hunting associations, the high nobility and the Imperial and Royal Army.
