Description

A South Siberian bronze spout axe, 9th - 6th century B.C. Massive, thick wall with a high rectangular muzzle at the rear end and a slightly curved blade with slightly tapering ends. The sides decorated with raised lines in groups of three. Beautiful dark green patina with reddish oxides. Length 10.8 cm. Provenance: Frankfurt private collection. Acquired in April 2016 at Hermann Historica (auction 73, lot 4549). Previously Rhenish private collection, taken over from the father's estate, acquired by him in the 1960s to 1980s. Condition: I -
