A Roman spoon (cochlear), 2nd - 3rd century A.D. Bronze spoon with a pointed oval, deeply curved bowl connected to the handle by a volute. The end of the handle is pointed, as is typical for a cochlear (e.g. for spearing snails or eggs). Tin-plated surface. Minimal oxide deposits in places. Length 18.7 cm. Condition: I - II
