Description

A pendant with Sekhmet head over a neck collar decoration, bronze, Late Period, early to mid-1st millennium B.C. Amulet pendant depicting a decorative collar (wesekh) with a head of the lion-headed goddess Sekhmet sitting on top, crowned with a sun disk and uraeus serpent. The head of the goddess is flanked on each side by a Horus head with wings. The decorative collar is divided into five zones by lines, four of which are decorated with zigzags. On the back, behind the sun disk, a ring loop for wearing or attaching the pendant. Left corner of the decorative collar with minimal chipping, crack in the decorative collar on the right. Width 5.3 cm. Height 6.1 cm. Provenance: Rhenish private collection, acquired in the Rhenish art trade at the beginning of the millennium. Condition: II
