BULLETIN DE L'ASSEMBLÉE NATIONALE ET DE LA CONVENTION. Paris, Imprimerie nationale, 1792-1795. Set of 740 folio leaves, in two modern half-red morocco boxes. Deschiens, pp. 105-106. - Tourneux, n°10818 and 10819. Exceptional collection of 740 issues, in folio sheets, of the Bulletin de l'Assemblée nationale et de la Convention. The official organ of the revolutionary government, this bulletin published one or more sheets daily. It first appeared under the title Bulletin de l'Assemblée nationale (National Assembly Bulletin) from September 5 to September 21, 1792, then from September 22 to IV brumaire an IV (October 26, 1795) under the title Bulletin de la Convention nationale (National Convention Bulletin): the exact number of issues published is unknown. One of the most curious and useful newspapers for the history of the Revolution; it is difficult to complete, because several times two issues appeared on the same day, there are a large number of supplements, and several bulletins and supplements have two, three and up to sixteen different editions (Hatin, p. 220). The Bulletin mainly offered a summary of parliamentary debates, but also included many letters, addresses or speeches under the names of officials (such as Robespierre, Couthon, Pichegru, Barrère, Collot d'Herbois, etc.), popular patriotic societies, ecclesiastics or private individuals, which provide information on the events of the day: news from the armies, capture of enemy ships, the war in the West (Vendée), confiscation of property, lists of outlawed rebels, the Feast of the Supreme Being instituted by Robespierre, the day of 9 Thermidor, etc. There is also a section on patriotic donations, which often appears in the newspaper's columns. The issues are on sheets and housed in two imposing modern red half-maroquin boxes. Some spotting and foxing, and numerous restorations.
