One volume. 10 by 15.8 cm. 1 frontispiece-(4)-92-(3) pages + 4 ff. n.ch. (Cat. Léon Willem). Contemporary brown half-chagrin with corners, 5-rib spine, mottled edges. "This is a series of letters exchanged between an exploratory mission from Nouméa, the new center of civilization, and the Minister of the Navy and Colonies or the Minister of Public Instruction, Cults and Fine Arts. The results of the excavations undertaken on the site where Paris once stood are, naturally, the opposite of what they should have been, with archaeologists interpreting the fragments and debris they discover in a haphazard or fanciful manner." (Versins). Very amusing text, and beautiful frontispiece... 2. [LA PORTE (Joseph de)]: Voyage en l'autre monde ou nouvelles littéraires de celui-cy. London, et se trouve à Paris, Duchesne, 1752. 2 parts in 1 volume. 9 by 16 cm. 1 frontispiece-1 title frontispiece included in pagination-215-(1); 216 pages. "This is a moderate and agreeable critique of a few works that were making a lot of noise at the time. It has been reprinted under this title: Voyage en l'autre monde [...]" (Quérard). Decorated with a frontispiece and a fully engraved title by Eisen. 3. [PERNETTI (Jacques)]: Le repos de Cyrus, ou l'histoire de sa vie depuis sa seizième jusqu'à sa quarantième année. Paris, Briasson, 1732. 3 volumes in 1 volume. 11.5 by 18.3 cm. 1 frontispiece-XVI-122 pages + 1 fig. h.t.; 1 frontispiece-(2)-103 pages and 1 frontispiece-(2)-150-(2) pages. Contemporary full basane, 5-rib spine, red title page. Cracked headbands, blemishes on upper spine, small bump on 1st board. Despite this, a very decent copy. First edition. Pernetti turns Louis XIV and his government into a veiled satire.
