Board slightly soiled on spine and 1st board, small paper loss at one corner, scattered foxing. A good copy. First edition of this unusual work illustrated with 36 lithographed plates by Engelmann, showing several dozen figures. The work covers: Dwellings for day laborers - Dwellings for smallholder tenants or sharecroppers - Dwellings for the owner or farmer of a large farm - Large barns, stables, cow barns, etc... - Les Mulotins - Bergeries - Plan général de la ferme - Note sur les vacheries et écuries, bricole et brouettes normandes - Plan du Gerbier sur poteaux, exécuré à la Celle Saint-Cloud. An agronomist and literary scholar, Viscount Morel de Vindé (1759-1842) was a member of the Paris parliament in 1778. In 1790, he presided over the Tuileries district court, retiring at the time of the Terror to devote himself to agronomy. He was also appointed Pair de France in August 1815 and a member of the Académie des Sciences in 1824.
