Paris, Emile Chamontin, 1927, in-8, havana half-maroquin with corners, 5-rib spine finely decorated with gilt Venetian columns, gilt head, cover and spine preserved, (binding by Canape et Corriez). Illustrated by Charles Martin with 22 compositions, including 13 watercolors stenciled by Jean Saudé (including one on the cover and 12 hors-texte) and 9 bistre culs-de-lampe. Limited edition of 530 copies. One of 30 on Hollande Van Gelder Zonen containing a suite of watercolors on Japon (n°22). Our copy is enriched by a second suite on Hollande and an autograph card signed by publisher Emile Chamotin: "Mon cher compatriote, merci de votre aimable mot auquel je suis particulièrement sensible. The Hollande copy of Contes vénitiens to which you have kindly subscribed includes a suite of watercolors on Japon. I am pleased to enclose a further suite on Hollande. Yours faithfully". A very fine copy in an elegant Canape binding.
