Mardrus and illustrated by Jacques Touchet, Paris, Éditions de la Belle Etoile, 1939. 3 vols in-4, square half-chagrin with corners, (19, x 24 cm) edged with gilt fillet, spine with 4 nerves, bordering the title and the translator's name, gilt head, cream-colored boards speckled with gilt spots, The cover is illustrated with 3 fig. by the artist, different on the 1st board, the second and the spine, repeated on TII. and III. The covers, front and back, have been preserved, mauve endpapers, speckled with gold spots. 209, 208 and 203pp. Limited edition of 1500 copies. One of 120 ex. on Lafuma pur (31 to 150) numbered 144, enriched with an original Indian ink drawing titled in pencil 4, "le dormeur", opposite the false title and a black suite.
