Les Bucoliques.Paris, Charles Meunier 1905, in-4, bound in calf raciné and jaspé, bradel, with a bronze plaque in relief (9.7 x 6.7 cm), set in the right-hand corner of the 1st plate, signed "D Puech, Paris, 1904, representing the monument that the proceeds from the sale of part of Franceouvrage were to enable to erect to André Chénier. Partly first edition, known as the "Monument". The work was published from the original manuscript by J. M. De Hérédia. The covers and spine have been preserved. The 12 lithographs are by FANTIN LATOUR, and the 22 head and tailpieces by G. Simoes Da Fonseca. Edition of 177 copies, this one of 150 on vélin du Marais with the Ch. Meunier watermark (N°74). Copy with 3 states of the 12 plates (litho., in black, on vellum, in sepia on China and in black, the smokes mounted on vellum). 2 states of the 22 headpieces and tailpieces (sepia on China, black smoked). The binding was produced under the direction of Charles Meunier. Charles Meunier's dir. The last letter of the subscriber's name is missing. Tiny rubbing to the head cover and those of the slipcase. The book is in very good condition (Monod 2724).
