I, good overall condition. RARE FIRST EDITION. Jeanne-Marie Leprince de Beaumont, whose real name was Marie-Barbe Leprince, (1711-1776), was a famous woman of letters. She is the author of some seventy volumes of children's stories, such as Beauty and the Beast, which have become classics of children's literature. She was probably the great-grandmother of Prosper Mérimée. A FINE COPY IN AN ATTRACTIVE CONTEMPORARY BINDING.
