One vol. in-4, full brown morocco, (signed Duru, 18?1), 5-ribbed spine, gilded caissons decorated with gilded small irons, triple gilded framing on the boards, gilded numeral in the center "GDM", gilded fillet on the edges, inner lace, gilded edges over marbling; engraved title, (8) ff.-531 pp.-(1) p., 4 plates drawn and engraved by François Chauveau. Modern illustrated bookplate. Rubbing to spines and corners, paper lightly and evenly browned, a fine copy, very well established by a great 19th-century French bookbinder, Hippolyte Duru. Rare second quarto edition of Pierre Corneille's verse translation of the Imitation of Jesus Christ. "It reproduces the text of the in-4 edition of 1656, with the same figures by Chauveau".
