The scissors of notary or notary's office, acquire this name because its functionality resided in trimming the beards or edges of the sheets of paper, habitual practice among the notaries, civil servants or notaries. This type of scissors were of indispensable use from the XVI century to the XIX century, being those manufactured in Albacete the most famous. In the 17th century, due to the proliferation of the civil service, which allowed the management of the colonies, the demand for these utensils increased widely. In the case of scissors from Albacete, they usually have an inscription with the year and the name of the artisan and sometimes the name and position of the person who placed the order.
