Steinlen writes to his children during the Inghelbrecht orchestra conductor's tours of Germany, Austria and Switzerland, where he sometimes joins them by train (for which he gives the timetable), along with Inghelbrecht's parents. He sends them money, gives news of his health and his cats, and talks about his daily life, his menus and his Parisian life. He talks about Diaghilev, Gabriel Astruc and Pierre Monteux: "I'll go and see Astruc, and I'll try (with the snake's well-known astuteness and coldness) to get as many interesting tips as possible, without getting ahead of myself". From Brussels, he announces the opening of his exhibition (February 1913): "the child is presenting himself well - Lamberty friends - colleagues - everyone is helpful and charming".
