À la campagne, sur les désagréments de la campagne (14 sizains): "Ne pouvant admettre That the thermometer Ait perdu l'esprit"... - Impôt sur le revenu, on the proposed income tax; dedicated to Hugues Delorme (19 sizains): "Alors, quoi, mon Delorme? Ce Peytral piriforme Que voilà revenu, Rêve - s'il faut l'en croire D'un impôt vexatoire"... - Cochons de bois, on the Neuilly fair and its merry-go-round of wooden pigs (19 quatrains), suggesting replacing the pig with "the guitar without a neck On which women make dada"... - Éloquence militaire (23 quatrains); published November 20, 1899. In it, Ponchon has General de Gallifet, Minister of War, justify the measures taken against several officers, such as General Négrier, and his role during the Commune: "Oui, messieurs, tout ce que j'ai fait I thought I had to do"... - La Cigale et la Fourmi (13 quatrains), celebrating Coquelin Cadet's talent, with erasures and corrections: "Certes, Cadet, ton génie". - Après l'Affaire, on French concord after the verdict of the Dreyfus trial (78 verses): "Enfin arriva cette année Où l'Affaire fut terminée"...Attached is a fragment a.s.
