Order from Bonaparte to publish in Arabic details of "the feast of the prophet" attended by the General-in-Chief in Cairo, testifying to the "respect the French had for Islamism"; gifts from the General-in-Chief to two sheikhs "commendable for their wisdom and piety"... 13 vendémiaire. Dated 6 Messidor An VI [June 24, 1798] aboard the Orient, these provisions are to be observed after disembarkation, concerning mainly horses and camels, but also Mamelukes, the seizure of tax coffers, and discipline. - Bonaparte (Napoleon). Proclamation by the General en Ghef [sic]. De l'imprimerie orientale et française d'Alexandrie, [1799]. In-folio printed folder, printed header illustrated with a woodcut effigy of the French Republic. Dated from headquarters in front of Acre on 28 Floréal Year VII [17 May 1799], it congratulates the Army on the capture of Acre, and announces that new trials await it against "part of the West".
