Juan de Alcaraz, 1886', on a moulded bronze plinth inscribed 'A XII/ RESTAURADOR Y PACIFICADOR/ DE LA/ MONARQUIA ESPANOLA'. Marked with the number 28. Biennale in Venice, 1960-62 visiting professor at the Hamburg Academy of Fine Arts, 1968 solo exhibition at the Kunsthalle Düsseldorf, from 1979 member of the Royal Academy of Arts, 1981 to 1989 professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich, 1989 knighted by Queen Elizabeth II, 1994 exhibition in the Yorckshire Sculpture Park, 1994 acquisition of a large part of his work by the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art, 2001 stroke and as a result confined to a wheelchair.
