in chased gilt bronze and white marble. The movement is supported by two crouching griffins, the shock absorber decorated with a fountain from which two dogs are drinking. White enameled dial with Arabic numerals, signed Lefèvre in Paris. The oblong base is adorned with applique bronzes, acanthus leaf scrolls and lion masks. Toupie feet. Oblong, molded base in turquoise-blue marble, underlined by a frieze of pearls. H without base: 43 - W: 31 - D: 10.5 cm Dimension of base H: 5.5 - W: 36 - D: 14.5 cm Wear and tear, including the stamp and probably the plumes on the griffins' heads. The general pyramidal composition of a base composed of various real or mythological animals - ibexes, lions, sphinxes or griffins - supporting the circular movement surmounted by a vase, a fountain or a divinity, lent itself well to multiple variants that ensured the enduring success of these clocks. A model with sphinxes and swans instead of dogs is listed.
