17th century French school "Still life". Oil on canvas. Re-drawn. It presents restorations. Measurements: 67 x 57 cm; 79 x 69 cm (frame). The disposition on a horizontal plane of the elements that form part of the composition, the own abundance of these elements, which creates a variegated set, as well as the presence of the fabrics and the curtain, have their roots in the still life or Central European still life, from the XVIIth and XVIIIth century, from the Baroque period. The still life was at the bottom of the hierarchy of genres in the history of art, but it became increasingly popular with buyers. In addition to the independent subject of the still life, it addressed other types of painting by using prominent, usually symbolic elements and images that drew on a multitude of elements from nature in an apparent attempt to reproduce a part of life. It should be noted that, within the still life, the depiction of flowers, or vases, established itself as a highly prized sub-genre among collectors, who saw in these paintings the perfect element for the decoration of their extensive estates.
