Description

Carved boxwood nutcracker with pincers, black enamel beads for the eyes, depicting a standing man holding a hazelnut with a wormhole. Sporting a moustache and goatee, he wears a hat with a feather on top of his thickly curled hair; wearing boots adorned with a rosette, he is dressed in a tunic with a wide gathered collar and puffed breeches. Holland, late 17th century H. 15.3 cm (missing left foot, very slight accidents) An identical model is illustrated in A.
