Horn powder flask with finely engraved decoration and inscriptions. On one side, a coat of arms bearing a crowned two-headed eagle of the Holy Roman Germanic Empire. Half-partite, on 1: de ... à une bande de ... accompagné de six besants (ou tourteaux) de ... ; on 2: quarterly, in a: from ... to a cross pattée and bored of ... ; in b: counter-banded (?) or counter-barré (?) of ... and ... ; above, cartouche with the inscription CHRISTIAN HEINT ODER MORGEN FORTH (Christian now or disappeared in the morning?); on the other, two dials, one indicating the quarters, the other the hours and minutes; around, date 1779 and below, inscription TIE VHR IST ANG[E]BR[A]CHD, SIE GED HO[CH] SCHLAG[E]NICHD (the clock is in place, it will beat high?); on one edge, a richly dressed woman beside a tree holding a spear in her right hand, a dog lying at her feet, on the other, a flowering stem; inscription on the heel RESRKD FIR TIS RAN FERD CHRISTIAN S.
