Description
Rare wooden sewing box fully upholstered in green velvet embroidered with green silk thread and decorated with floral motifs. The interior is lined with pink paper and features compartments with lacquered leather and gilded panels decorated with children under arcatures, two couples, one around the Serpent tree and the other on either side of a flower, and a bear and boar hunt. Netherlands, circa 1580 / 1620 H. 10 cm - W. 32 cm - D. 18 cm (minor wear to the velvet, small accidents and missing parts) The Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam holds a comparable sewing box (inv.
