Set of twenty-five engraved vignettes, margin fragments, black and red ink, depicting elements of the Danse macabre on both sides, from a book of Hours Hore diue virginis Marie printed by Thielman Kerver. (small accidents) Thielman Kerver I (†1572) was an important printer and seller of religious books, originally from Koblenz but active in Paris 1497-1522. After his death, the printing house was taken over by his widow Yolande Bonhomme, then by his son Thielman II Kerver, who was succeeded by his son Jacques Thielman. Kerver published a variant of Simon Vostre's dance with sixty-six figures in Latin. The same series also exists in French, Dutch and Spanish. A complete copy is preserved at the University of Virginia Library (Gordon 1511.C38).
