Description
Virgin and Child in carved walnut with traces of polychromy. Standing on a crescent resting on stylized clouds, Mary carries the Child on her left arm; her face has a clear forehead, half-closed eyes with finely hemmed eyelids, a mouth with full lips and a round chin; it is framed by long locks of hair reaching down to the waist; she is clad in a gown fastened at the waist by a belt with a buckle, and adorned at the end with an ornate plaque, as well as a mantle held to the chest by a ribbon embellished with cabochons; the Child, with curly hair and dressed in a long tunic, places his left hand on the orb and grasps a lock of his Mother's hair with the other.
