CROIX DE PLAT DE RELIURE, IN CHAMPLEVED ENAMEL ON COPPER, LIMOGES, 13th CENTURY A champlevé Limoges enamel Christ on the cross book cover, Limoges, 13th century HEIGHT. 22 - WIDTH. 12,50 CM - H. 8,7 - L. 4,9 IN. In the 13th century, these were frequently decorated with champlevé enamel on copper in several sections. The obverse usually featured a small Christ on the cross in the center, framed by enameled moldings. Most of these pieces have been dismantled over time and now stand alone, as shown here.
