Rare message box with rich alla certosina decoration in marquetry of bone, green-tinted bone, rosewood and boxwood. The front is stepped, with a geometric checkerboard pattern on the lid and a flowering stem below in a square reserve; side loops with twisted silk thread cordonet with acorn-embellished ends; brass hasp fastener. Northern Italy, Embriachi workshop, 15th century H. 13.7 cm - W. 9 cm - D. 8.4 cm Interior sheathed in green silk velvet, chased with small motifs, Italy, first quarter of the 17th century (wear to the drawstring). Probably commissioned, this appears to be the only known case of this model.
