Description
BORDEAUX, Manufacture des terres de Bordes Pair of porcelain pedestal vases with narrow necks and widened bases with two built-in ring handles. Polychrome decoration in four reserves of roses on a gold background overhanging a motif of arabesques, palms and garlands bordered by a braid of pink medallions with gold combed and green fillets. Gold garlands and fillets on the edge. Gold two-V decorators' mark for Verneuilh and Vanier circa 1790. 18th century H.22cm Small chip at the base of each vase and slight gold wear. A similar model is in the Musée des Arts décoratifs de Bordeaux INV: 88.3.2 and reproduced in La manufacture des Terres de Bordes en Paludate, Jacqueline du Pasquier p 73 and 89.
