Oil on canvas depicting a sunny summer afternoon. Attributed to Osip Braz (1873-1936). Unsigned. Osip Emmanuilovich Braz was an Odessa-born painter, a member of the Mir Iskusstva movement since 1900. Braz graduated from the Odessa Art School in 1890, and studied first under Sandor Kholloshi in Munich (1891-94) and then under Ilya Repin in the Academy of Arts (1895-96). In 1914 Braz became an academic of the Academy of Arts. Dimensions: 19 3/4 x 24 in., (50 x 61 cm ) Canvas is strong with several cracks on the surface. Very minor paint chips on the edges. Stretcher is original to the canvas

With Le Pays des Pardons, Anatole Le Braz celebrates the most traditional manifestations of faith in Brittany, with the pardon of the poor (Saint-Yves), the pardon of the singers (Rumengol), the pardon of the mountain (La Troménie de Saint Ronan) and the pardon of the sea (Sainte-Anne de la Palud) - 1 of René Kieffer's 1st editions, here with Blaizot, in 1 beautifully executed binding.
