Georges BREUIL (Quevillon 1904 - Bois Guillaume 1997) Composition au filet, circa 1955-1960 Mixed media on canvas, signed lower right. H_80 cm - W_60 cm (rod) Note : A student at the École régionale des Beaux-Arts de Rouen in 1921-19221, Georges Breuil was a friend and pupil of Georges Braque. He embarked on the path of abstraction in 1947, and, on the advice of Georges Braque and Jacques Villon, exhibited for the first time at the Galerie Colette Allendy in Paris in 1953. In an essay entitled "Sublimation de l'art abstrait", he defines "the genesis of a work as a thought, the first motor of creation that becomes an act".
