CURIOSA - Black stone veined with a white line, slightly cordiform, engraved on the whole with intermingled characters The profusion of multidirectional and overlapping characters could suggest an amulet function, as described in the catalog of its exhibition in Reims on April 24, 1876 under no. 2529: "Indian amulet, covered with engraved hieroglyphic characters, from the Temple of Dagoard". The Temple mentioned in this notice, whose name is probably incorrectly transcribed, has not been identified. In its black leather case with satin-finish interior. Inside, old label "n°89 M. Alfred Wimy à Braisnes" and document of receipt of the object by the Commission archéologique de Reims and the Comité d'organisation de l'exposition rétrospective de 1876 under entry number n°89 and mentioning its owner M. Alfred Wimy à Braisne sur Vesle. 10 x 9 cm Provenance : Former property of M. Alfred Wimy in Braisne sur Vesle.
