Portrait of Emperor Farrukhsiyar, East India, Bengal, Murshidabad, early 19th century Gouache, silver and gold on paper depicting Emperor Farrukhsiyar kneeling on an ornate throne, clutching the handle of a dagger in his left hand and holding a white flower in his right. He is richly dressed and adorned, his head covered with a aigrette headdress. Behind the back of his throne, two followers in white jama, orange cloaks over their shoulders, hold a morshal flycatcher on their right shoulder. The subjects set in a landscape under a cloudy sky. 23.8 x 19.5 cm Some folds, gilding and polychromy marks, small repaints, painting pasted on cardboard.
