Calligraphic composition, Iran qâjâr, 19th century, signed Calligraphy on paper, the text obliquely in thick nasta'liq in black ink in reserve on a lightly gilded green background. Signed Fath 'Alî Sherâzî and mounted on an album page with fine colored borders with gold motifs and a wide red margin. Calligraphy size: 22 x 9.2 cm; page size: 32.5 x 19 cm Light wear and stains. Provenance: Collection of M. Mohajer Fath 'Alî Shîrâzî, known as Hejâb Shîrâzî, was not only a poet but also one of the greatest masters of nasta'liq calligraphy of the qâjâr period, having trained under Mirzâ Kuchak Vesâl. Among his most important works are copies of Molavi's Masnavi, Jâmî's Lavâyeh and Sharaf ed-Dîn Qazvînî's Târikh-e Mo'jam, now in the Golestân Palace Museum in Tehran.
