MohammadBâqer Majlesî (d. 1698), Zâd al-Ma'âd, Iran qâjâr, signed and dated 1831 Manuscript on paper, 18 lines per page in Persian and a few lines of naskhi Arabic in black ink, some signs and characters in red ink, some marginal inscriptions in red. Double-page illuminated Sarlow frontispiece, the text in reserve on a gold background surrounded by a floral margin and preceded by the title illuminated in gold and polychrome in a cartouche surmounted by lambrequins with semis of florettes. At the end of the work, a few lines mention the author's writing in Isfahan in 1107 H / 1695, and a colophon inscribed in oblique lines within triangles, giving the name of the copyist Mohammad-Rezâ Tabrîzî and the date in 1247 H /1831. Bound in papier-mâché with painted, gilded and lacquered floral decoration, the boards featuring a composition of roses and eglantines, the back covers with semis of gilded florets. 22.7 x 14.5 cm Wear, some stains, wetness, folds, wormholes, some restorations, binding rebacked.
