Large kashkul dervish sebile, Iran, early 20th century Coconut shell-shaped sebile in cast steel, engraved and tin-plated on the inside, with two suspension rings linked by a chain and a small mouthpiece. The top is decorated with an animal motif on a foliate background, the sides with a band of figures and animals framed by Persian nasta'liq calligraphy cartouches and floral friezes, and the underside with a pastoral scene of dervishes and their flock in a landscape.
