Description

1970 - Porsche 914/6 One of the best small sports coupes of its time, which could have overshadowed the 911. French registration Chassis n°9140432274 - High-performance, mid-mounted engine, original lines and open-top design - Only 3333 examples and eligible for major historic competitions - Rare "matching numbers" model with Fuchs rims - Fully documented restoration costing almost €200,000 in 2015/2016 - 12,000 kms covered since completion of work, with ongoing maintenance - Original upholstery and steering wheel supplied, Trip Master and bluetooth radio The car we are presenting is one of these rare examples. It's a 914/6, delivered new to the USA on June 3, 1970 in Tampa, Florida, in a beautiful Adriatic Blue color, which it still sports today. This vivid color combines perfectly with the iconic 15-inch Fuchs wheels in satin black and aluminum, as well as yellow headlamps, for a very Seventies look. While its history on the other side of the Atlantic is unknown, this car's greatest asset lies in its simply exceptional restoration in France. Taken care of by the Jean Lain Vintage workshops, every aspect of this car has undergone a thorough overhaul: chassis, bodywork, paintwork, engine, gearbox, running gear, timing, brakes, interior, upholstery... The work as a whole required more than 1,500 hours over the years 2015/2016, and the total bill comes to almost 200,000 euros! The car is presented in virtually concours condition, a term so overused these days, but which really applies to our example, whose complete restoration file (photographs and invoices) is impressive. In addition, several important invoices complete the file, proof that it has been carefully and rigorously maintained to keep it in its outstanding condition. In fact, it has covered just 12,000 kilometers since the work was completed in 2016. Another important singularity is that this 914/6 is still equipped with its original engine and gearbox, as the accompanying Porsche archive certificate attests. Currently equipped with bucket seats with harnesses and a Trip Master, to take part in regularity rallies in good conditions, as well as a Bluetooth car radio for GPS use via the telephone, it should be noted that the car is delivered with its original seats, restored of course. The 914/6 was unjustly forgotten for many years, even though it was a well-designed racing car, particularly light at less than a tonne on the scales, with a genuine Porsche 911 flat-six. This injustice has now been rectified, as the 914/6 has benefited from a genuine rediscovery over the past decade, and its value has literally soared. On the other hand, oblivion often goes hand in hand with unscrupulous maintenance in the world of classic cars, and it's not easy to find an example like this one, still fitted with its original mechanics. We can also proudly add that this is the most beautiful 914/6 on the market. An exceptional opportunity not to be missed!
