Aldo Turchiaro (Celico April 6, 1929) Aldo Turchiaro (Celico April 6, 1929) - Volatili Cm 35x50 Oil painting on canvas. Signed at lower right and on the back. Aldo Turchiaro is a painter and illustrator originally from Celico, in the province of Cosenza. He moved to Rome where he attended the Liceo Artistico and met Renato Guttuso with whom he actively participated in the Villa Massimo art studio. His early works, dating from 1942- 1943 have strong references to the production of Carlo Carrà and Giorgio De Chirico. He took painting courses at the academies of Florence, Milan and Rome. In 1973 he was awarded the Fiorino Prize of Florence. During his artistic career he exhibited at the VII Quadriennale in Rome, the Ca D'oro Gallery and the La Nuova Pesa Gallery, both in Rome. He adheres to the neo-realist current while not renouncing his originality in that his canvases depict mainly animals such as fish and birds.
