Illustrated with 62 engraved plates by Sigisbert Adam. Good condition. Born into a family of sculptors, Adam won the Prix de Rome in 1723 and lived in the Eternal City for ten years, as a protégé of Cardinal de Polignac, French ambassador to Rome.
