Jean-Baptiste Massillon was a French clergyman and bishop of Clermont-Ferrand. He quickly gained a reputation as a great orator, and preached before King Louis XIV. He gave famous funeral orations, such as Princes du sang and Conti... He was elected to the Académie française.
