FÉNELON (François de Salignac, de la Motte) - Les Aventures de Télémaque, fils d'Ulysse ou suite du quatrième livre de l'Odyssée d'Homère. François de Salignac de La Mothe Fénelon (1651-1715) was a 17th-century French theologian and writer, and Bossuet's main opponent of quietist doctrine. His work "Les Aventures de Télémaque" earned the author banishment to Flanders, where he returned to his archbishopric of Cambrai. Les Aventures de Télémaque" is a satire of the reign of Louis XIV, in which the monarch is portrayed as Idoménée, the legendary king of Crete.
