TEKE, DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF THE CONGO A male fetish standing on massive, powerful legs, its abdomen was originally covered by a circular magical charge called Bilongo. His scarred face features a beautiful, interiorized expression, and his tray-shaped headdress is adorned with a circular-arched crest with tapered ends. Wood, various materials with prophylactic virtues contained in the abdominal cavity, old honey-brown patina, wear marks. H. 25 cm. Provenance: former Loed van Bussel collection, Amsterdam.

Its face features a watchful expression accentuated by metal applications over the eyes. It is embellished with linear scarification marks and topped by a headdress with a sagittal crest on two side lobes. Wood, old honey-brown patina, metal. H. 44 cm.
