Description
PICHEREL (Petrus). Opuscula theologica... Leiden, Elzevier, 1629. Small in-12 on ivory vellum, small tear missing on 2nd f. "Picherel, a very moderate Catholic, was a contemporary of De Thou, who speaks very highly of him. The small Lectori preface at the head of the volume is unsigned, but we know from Colomiès that it is by the Protestant minister André Rivet. Ch. Nodier devoted a special article to this rare collection in his Mélanges tirés d'une petite bibliothèque, pp. 290-294. It is, according to him, the first volume in which the buffalo head is found."
